What we believe.

All beliefs produce behaviors, so it’s important we believe the right things.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the written word of God. It was authored by human hand under the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is without error and is the source of truth for Christian living and all of our beliefs. The Bible is the standard by which all revelation is weighed.

2 Timothy 3:16 / 2 Peter 1:20,21 / 2 Timothy 1:13 / Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6 / Proverbs 30:5

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three equally divine persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22 / Psalm 90:2 / Matthew 28:19 / 1 Peter 1:2 / 2 Corinthians 13:14

Sin

We believe that we are all born in a state we can not rescue ourselves from. The Bible calls this state sin. Sin is what separates us from God and is the root cause of everything wrong in the world. No amount of good works can fix the problem of sin. Only by accepting the free gift of forgiveness that Jesus offers us can we remove the problem of sin from our lives.

Genesis 1:27 / Psalm 8:3-6 / Isaiah 53:6a / Romans 3:23 / Isaiah 59:1,2 / Acts 4.12

Heaven & Hell

We believe that after a person dies, they will stand before God in judgment to give an account of their life. There are only two outcomes of this judgment. Eternal separation from God in hell because of sin, or eternal life with God in Heaven because of the free gift of salvation paid for by Jesus. We believe that Heaven and hell are real places and are eternal.

Hebrews 9.27 / John 3:16 / 1 John 2:25 / 1 John 5:11–13 / Romans 6:23 / Revelation 20:15 / Matthew 25:31–46

Salvation

There is no amount of good deeds, charitable works, or moral discipline that we can employ to solve the problem of our sin. It is only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness that we can be saved and rescued from hell. Jesus came to seek people who were lost and save them from their sins. When we accept God's gift of free forgiveness that Jesus paid for by dying on the cross, we are instantly saved from hell and are guaranteed eternal life in heaven. This is what Jesus describes as being saved and is the greatest gift we can receive.

Romans 6:23 / Ephesians 2:8,9 / John 14:6, 1:12 / Titus 3:5 / Galatians 3:26 / Romans 5:1

God the Father

God is a loving father who has longed for sons and daughters for all eternity. He is full of love and mercy. He is kind, faithful, and generous. We are separated from him by our sin until we receive his extravagant gift of free forgiveness that Jesus paid for. God has an active interest in our lives and desires to lead us into goodness, holiness, and satisfaction.

1 John 4:16 / 1 John 3:1 / 2 Corinthians 6.18Matthew 5:48 / John 17:23 / 1 John 2:23 / Ephesians 3:14-15 / Romans 8:31 / 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 / Psalm 139:1-2

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He came to pay the price of sin for everyone no matter what they have done. He lived a perfect life and gave his life for the whole world by choosing to die a horribly painful death on a cross. His perfect life and his cruel death paid the price for the sins of the world. After three days he was raised from the dead by his Father to demonstrate his power over death and sin. He returned to Heaven but will return to the earth one more time.

Matthew 1:22, 23Isaiah 9:6 / John 1:1–5, 14:10–30 / Hebrews 4:14,15 / 1 Corinthians 15:3,4 / Romans 1:3,4 / Acts 1:9–11 / 1 Timothy 6:14,15 / Titus 2:13

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit lives in every believer as soon as they accept God's free gift of forgiveness that Jesus paid for. Jesus called this being "born of the Spirit". Believers can also be filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus referred to this as being "baptized in the Holy Spirit". These two events can happen at the same time but often happen as two separate events. The Holy Spirit gives gifts to believers to help strengthen and encourage people. He empowers all Christians to live godly and upright lives.

2 Corinthians 3:17 / John 3.3-6 / John 1.33 / Acts 1.5John 16:7-13, 14:16,17 / Acts 1:8 / 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16 / Ephesians 1:13 / Galatians 5:25 / Ephesians 5:1

The Power of God

The power of the Holy Spirit is available for all believers to minister healing and deliverance to those afflicted by sickness and oppression. God speaks today through the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, and prophecy.

John 14:12 / Mark 16:17 / Matthew 10:7-8 / Job 33:14-18 / 1 Corinthians 14:1 / 1 Corinthians 12:8-11

The Church

We believe that the church is essential for healthy spiritual growth and has been designed by God to help his children mature in their faith. We believe it is essential for Christians to meet together regularly to worship as a community, receive teaching and learn from the Bible, pray together, share in the act of communion, and experience fellowship and connection.

Ephesians 4:11-12 / Hebrews 10:25 / Acts 2:42, 46-47 / Luke 22:18-20

Evangelism

We believe the good news that we have a loving God who is seeking a relationship with us, that we can be free from sin and its horrible effects, and that we can have eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ must be shared with everyone. This good news is what the Bible calls "The Gospel" and Jesus instructed his followers to share the gospel with everyone.

John 3:16 / 1 John 2:25 / 1 John 5:11-13 / Romans 6:23 / Matthew 28:18-20

Baptism

Baptism is a public display that you have accepted God's free gift of forgiveness that Jesus paid for by dying on the cross. Baptism does not save you, but it does show the world that you have already been saved and are now committed to following Jesus. While baptism is not essential for salvation, it is a biblical command that demonstrates your commitment to Jesus Christ.

Colossians 2:12 / Acts 2:41 / Ephesians 2: 8-9 / Matthew 28:19-20

Communion

Taking communion is a spiritual act that all those who have been saved are instructed to do. The elements of bread and wine (often juice) are symbols of Christ's body and blood that were given for our salvation. When we eat the bread and drink the wine, we remember the death of Jesus that paid for our sins and gave us eternal life. Taking communion is not a way to be saved, rather it is an act of obedience that reminds us we have been saved.

Matthew 26:26-30 / Mark 14:22-26 / Luke 22:19,20 / 1 Corinthians 11:23-29

Marriage & Sex

The Bible teaches that marriage is a sacred lifetime covenant that only occurs between one man and one woman and is the only context in which sexual behavior is blessed. The only other path presented in the Bible is to remain single and celibate. The Bible recognizes that both marriage and singlehood are blessings and gifts from God.
